We are delighted that you are joining us for our Church Weekend Away at Denham Grove Hotel, Buckinghamshire. The weekend provides a unique opportunity to spend time together as Church family, to hear and learn from God’s word, and to deepen and encourage friendships.
For weekend visitors, the programme begins on Friday evening with arrival anytime from 2.30pm and check-in available from 4pm. Pre booked kids’ tea runs from 5.30pm – 6.30pm, dinner will be served between 6.45pm - 8.15pm, and our first teaching session starts at 8.30pm. On Saturday we will be joined by a number of day visitors, who are welcome to arrive from 9am for a 9.30am start. Our exciting programme continues throughout the day and we are thrilled to have Christian kids' entertainer Michael Tinker (from the Inspector Smart series) showcasing "Michael and the Topsy Turvey Kingdom" aimed at kids 3-10yrs, but all welcome. On Saturday evening there will be family entertainment, as we put on an EMMANUEL'S GOT TALENT show, we'd love to hear from you if you'd like to take part: all ages and talents welcome!
On Sunday we welcome further day visitors for our final teaching session, starting at 9.30am, followed by an ALL AGE SERVICE with the Lord's Supper which concludes our formal time together. Lunch is provided, and then we all head back to Wimbledon!
Throughout the weekend we have full use of the hotel’s leisure facilities which includes a fully equipped gym and swimming pool. In addition, the hotel has beautiful grounds which allows us the opportunity to enjoy and explore the Buckinghamshire countryside.
We are delighted to have Christopher Ash join us for the weekend. Christopher will be teaching us on the topic of the Glory of Christ in the Psalms. A former pastor, Christopher was director of the Proclamation Trust's Cornhill training course from 2004-2015 and is now an author and writer in residence at Tyndale House, Cambridge. Christopher and his wife Carolyn were members of Emmanuel and he is one of our Emmanuel Patrons.

The hotel is situated off Junction 1 of the M40 and is easily accessible by car. There is ample car parking on site. Chiltern Rail runs a direct service from Marylebone to Denham station, the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines run to Uxbridge and Rickmansworth, and the Central Line runs to West Ruislip. What time are we expected to be there on Friday?
You can arrive at anytime from 2.30pm and rooms will be ready from 4pm. If you have requested kids' tea, this is available between 5.30pm and 6.30pm and a buffet dinner is available between 6.45pm - 8.15pm. Our first session begins at 8.30pm. There will be food available for latecomers up until 8.45pm.
What time should day visitors arrive?
Day visitors can arrive anytime from 9am on Saturday or Sunday. The first session of the day will be at 9.30am. Coffee and tea is available on arrival..
Do I need to pay extra for anything during the weekend?
The ticket cost you have paid includes a weekend stay at Denham Grove Hotel for weekend visitors. For all visitors: meals tea & coffee, access to hotel leisure facilities, ministry activities, social activities & evening entertainment are included.
What do I need to bring?
ESV Bible, notebook and pen.
If you have asked for a hotel cot you will need to bring your own bedding.
What happens at meal times?
Meals will be served in the restaurant and will be buffet style. The dining room seats 140 people and therefore we will be having 2 sittings.
Friday: Dinner will be served 6.45pm - 7.30pm and then 7.30pm - 8.15pm, for latecomers food will be available until 8.45pm, in the restaurant. Bar food is available until 10.30pm which is payable on ordering.
For all other meals please check list available in the hotel for your meal time.
Can I purchase food and drink from the bar?
The bar and lounge area are available for our use. If you wish to purchase food or drink from the bar, payment will need to be made when the order is placed. Purchased food is NOT chargeable to your room.
What facilities are available at the venue?
The hotel has a pool, spa, sauna room, gym, outdoor tennis courts and 43 acres of parkland grounds. All these are free to use, but please note that children will need supervision in the pool and no under 16's in the gym. The pool is available from 6.30am - 9.30pm, except on Friday, 4pm - 6pm and on Saturday, 9am- 1pm. Maximum pool capacity is 25 people. Towels are available for leisure facilities from the hotel reception.
Who else will be in the hotel?
We have booked all the rooms in the hotel so we are the only residential guests. There are two evening functions, one on Friday night and one on Saturday night. In addition on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning the pool is used for swimming lessons.
Who is in charge of our youthwork?
We are delighted to have a mixture of past and present Emmanuel Ministry Trainees and Church family members looking after and teaching our kids.

What about our Acorners?
We are delighted to have our Acorners in our main meetings. There will be a walk and games organised for Acorners on Saturday afternoon.
How much free time will there be over the weekend? Will there be any social activities?
The weekend will include plenty of time for relaxing and socialising. There are optional films, outdoor games and there will be a selection of board games available in the lounge. What time will we finish on Sunday?
Bedrooms need to be vacated by 11am on Sunday and the weekend will finish after lunch.
What happens if I have dietary requirements?
We have passed on all dietary requirements given when booking, to the hotel.
There will be an opportunity to purchase books, advent calendars, Christmas cards and lots more from the Good Book Company book stall, which will be available all weekend.
